Police crackdown on crime

The Primrose police share their latest arrest statistics.

Twenty-eight suspects were arrested by the Primrose police from February 8 to 14.

The accused were arrested for various crimes in the Primrose area.

Charges included:

  •  Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm: 3
  •  Common assault: 1
  •  Malicious damage to property: 3
  •  Warrant of arrest: 1
  •  Driving under the influence of alcohol: 2
  •  Sexual assault: 1
  •  Housebreaking and theft: 1
  •  Urinating in public: 1
  •  Possession of drugs: 6
  •  Dealing liquor without a license: 3
  •  Illegal immigrants: 6

The Primrose SAPS station commander, Lieut-Col Albertina Vesi, thanked everyone who contributed to the arrests.

Most of the suspects appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.

The illegal immigrants will be sent to Lindela, for deportation.
