Canoeists took to Germiston Lake, recently, in what was the last preparation race before the FNB Dusi.

The dark clouds looming overhead didn’t dampen the spirits of more than 120 paddlers who took to the water in the VLC Night Race, hosted by the Victoria Lake Canoe Club, at Germiston Lake, recently.
The only disappointment of the evening was the lack of female competitors; however, the event did welcome several mixed doubles.
The 15km race, made up of five 3km laps, was many paddlers’ last preparation race before the FNB Dusi and included a 50m portage.
