Scouts honour their founder

Local Scout troops prepare to honour their founder on February 21.

Scouts, Cubs, Cubettes and Guides from around the world will celebrate BP Weekend, from February 19 to 21.

This event marks the birthday of Sir Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scouting and Guiding movements, on February 22, 1857.

The Eland District, made up of troops from Brackenhurst, Randhart, Lambton, Germiston, Wychwood and Kensington, will celebrate the occasion with their annual BP Parade.

The parade will start at 10am from the Bedfordview Fire Station, in Hawley Road, and end at Bedfordview Primary School, in School Road.

The troops will then host a friendly soccer competition at the school.
