CPF calls for community members to get involved

Lambton Klip Sector Four CPF to hold public meeting.

The Lambton Klip Sector Four CPF (LKCPF) has, over a period of seven years, established itself as a unit that prides itself in its visible crime prevention and observation methods.

These methods allow the CPF to assist the SAPS, thus fulfilling the mandate for which a community policing forum is established.

“The unit has gone a few steps further in that they don’t only concentrate on crime related issues but also on the upliftment of the entire Lambton Klip area, to make it a place residents are proud to live in,” said Pine Pienaar, vice-chairman of LKCPF.

Pienaar said pavements in the area had recently had the words “thank you” painted on them which led to great confusion among residents and visitors to the area.

“Patrollers decided to resolve this problem and decided to take it upon themselves to remove the ‘thank you’ words and paint the correct street names on the pavements.

“Templates, paint and brushes were funded by the patrollers, as well as various donations from community members, and suddenly the entire Lambton Klip area’s streets were well-named.”

LKCPF is inviting all members of the public to get involved in the forum.

“There are various areas where you might fit in, all this for the betterment of our living space.

“Event planning and fund-raising are just two of the areas people could help in,” said Pienaar.

“The interest of the community was noticed during December when the Germiston Rotary Club invited LKCPF to join them in a Santa Sleigh Drive through the entire area, dishing out sweets to the children – the initiative was a big success.”

The LKCPF will be holding an open public meeting this Thursday (February 11) at 7pm at Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston in Webber Road, Lambton.

The Germiston Police Station commander Brig Samuel Thambo will attend the meeting, along with an SAPS delegation, to listen to problems from community members and give feedback on related issues.

“We invite one and all, including business owners, to attend this meeting and to air your views and ask questions,” Pienaar said.
