The top four stories on www.germistoncitynews.co.za for the week January 9 to 15 were:

1. Woman gang-raped, dropped off in Germiston: https://bit.ly/1RhFEij

The police are appealing to the community for help in tracing a suspect in a rape case. It is alleged that the man was one of a group of men who recently raped a woman in an abandoned house before dropping her off at a block of flats in Germiston.

2. Bangladeshi man caught with official documents: https://bit.ly/1PlDYhI

A tip-off provided by community members to the EMPD Community Liaison Unit (CLU) led to the arrest of a Bangladeshi spaza shop owner operating in Kwanele South, Katlehong. The man was found in possession of more than 100 official documents which are not allowed to be in his possession. The CLU members confronted the man at his spaza shop.

3. Man dies as speedster flees: https://bit.ly/1VE2Pm2

A 21-year-old male driver, clocked driving at 158km/h in his red BMW 420i, at 9.30am on New Year’s Eve, allegedly caused an accident which resulted in the death of another motorist. The crash took place on the N3 southbound, between the Grey Avenue and Heidelberg turn-offs.

4. Primrose CPF issues warning to community: https://bit.ly/1PkcCbG

The Primrose CPF is appealing to the community to always remain aware and alert. “We have received reports about a number of smash-and-grabs happening at robots along Pretoria and Main Reef roads,” said Wendy Morgan, chairman of the Primrose CPF.
