Mayor congratulates metro’s shining stars

Mayor thrilled with top achievers’ results.

The executive mayor of Ekurhuleni has congratulated the top achievers in the class of 2015.

Speaking in Randburg after the announcement of the Gauteng National Senior Certificate (NSC) results, on Wednesday, Gungubele said these youngsters were proof that nothing can defeat hard work.

“These youngsters should be considered role models in whose hands the future of our country lies.

“However, as South Africans we must also support those of our youngsters who could not make it last year.

“They must know that despite the temporary hiccup, we also have faith in them to pull through next time.”

The Gauteng top achievers from Ekurhuleni whose success and hard work were celebrated are physical science top achiever Ernest Molelle, from Reiger Park Secondary School in Reiger Park, mathematics top achiever Lesibana Thabiso Rammutla from Erasmus Monareng Secondary School in Vosloorus, Mandla Shaun, mathematics top achiever from Ponego Secondary School in Katlehong, Nosipho Shabane top achiever in business studies from Springs Girls High in Springs and Phweziwe Mkhalane who bagged eight distinctions from Unity High School in Daveyton.

Phweziwe Mkhalane whose teacher took her in and gave her a conducive studying environment in her home shares well wishes to the class of 2016.

“Good luck to the 2016 matrics – give this year your all, work as hard as you can, make the necessary sacrifices and use every chance you get to study,” said Mkhalane.

The metro will soon announce the recipients of its bursary scheme.
