The South African Weather Service has predicted that this weekend will bring some reprieve from the heatwave that has gripped the country.
Temperatures will drop under the 30 degree make, and showers and thunderstorms are predicted.
However, the weather service does warn of extreme temperatures and a potential chance of veld fire in Gauteng today.
The heatwave coincides with the worst drought in years.
