Christmas babies welcomed to the metro

MMC for health and social development, Clr Makhosazana Mabaso, visits the metro’s hospitals to celebrate the birth of a number of Christmas babies.

Christmas is a special day where family and friends to exchange presents.

A few delighted mothers in the metro received treasurable Christmas gifts, when they gave birth.

The new citizens of the metro were also welcomed into the world by a delegation headed by the member of mayoral committee (MMC) for health and social development, Clr Makhosazana Mabaso.

The MMC visited Thelle Mogoerane Hospital in Vosloorus followed by Bertha Gxowa Hospital in Germiston and the Tambo Memorial Hospital in Boksburg where she celebrated the arrival of the Christmas babies with their mothers.

Speaking to the mothers, Mabaso said, “I am happy that all the babies born today are healthy and so are their mothers.

“I wish the mothers and the babies nothing but good health and happiness.”

The MMC further thanked the hospitals’ staff for working so hard and encouraged them to continue giving the mothers and their newborns the love and support they need.

The newborns received their first gifts which included bathtubs, baby blankets and essential baby products.

Speaking on behalf of the new mothers, Lindiwe Makhasane – who gave birth to baby girl Tshegofatso at exactly midnight – thanked the MMC for the gifts.

“The gift was not at all expected, I’m very thankful that my baby’s first gift comes from the metro, thank you for making this day extra special,” she said.
