MMC’s visit metro’s New Year’s babies

A delegation from the metro visited some of the metro’s New Year’s babies.

There is no better way to start a brand new year than to give birth to a healthy and bouncy baby, this is the sentiment shared by elated mothers who gave birth on New Year’s Day.

On New Year’s morning members of the metro’s mayoral committee together with senior officials visited three local hospitals to welcome the newly born babies and give the mothers some much needed baby goodies which included bathtubs, baby blankets and other essential baby products.

MMC for sport recreation, arts and culture Clr Dora Mlambo, led the delegation’s first leg of the visits to the Pholosong Hospital in Tsakane to hand out baby hampers to the mothers and to congratulate them on their bundles of joy.

Speaking to the mothers Mlambo emphasised the importance of breast feeding, “Remember that mother’s milk is the best, I urge you to breastfeed these babies until they are strong enough to eat ordinary food.

“Also remember to register the baby’s birth before leaving the hospital.”

The MMC for human settlements, Clr Aubrey Nxumalo joined the delegation on its visit to the Far East Rand Hospital.
