How to throw an impressive New Years Eve party

Nine tips on throwing a New Years party.

•  Make sure you have the time to throw the party.

Set aside time to get food, clean and invite people.

What time does the party start?

Are people staying over?

Are there children coming?

Make sure all this is planned.

•  Invite friends and family.

Contact the people who you would like to come and tell them the time and if you want offer some of them to stay over.

Make sure they can get back to you quickly.

•  Buy food and drink for guests.

Buy snacks such as crisps and chocolates.

Buy some alcoholic drinks for adults, not too much though, also buy an assortment of cold drink these can cater for adults and children.

•  Make sure your guests will be entertained.

Turn the TV on, make sure people enjoy their visit.

If you have a Wii or the Kinect for Xbox 360 or other gaming device, this will ensure the children and, of course, the adults will have a form of entertainment.

•  When you know who is coming, it’s time to get stuck in.

Place the snacks in bowls and put them in different rooms around the house.

Drinks can be served when somebody wants one.

And if anyone is staying over make sure a bed is made for them.

•  Pump up the volume.

Music should be played in each room or if you have a sound-system can be played throughout the whole house.

•  When everyone has arrived, it’s time to mingle.

Make sure everyone is happy.

Talk to people.

Introduce people who may not know each other.

Ask yourself: is everyone satisfied?

•  It is time to celebrate.

Be sure everyone knows what time it is so that none of your guests miss the New Year countdown.

•  Hangover day.

When everyone has left and the party is over, tidy up and clean around the house.
