Metro takes three months to repair cables

Elsburg business owner desperate for answers from the metro.

Sean Engledow, a business owner in Elsburg, was furious when his business was left without power for three months.

“Workers from the metro dug trenches in Machine Street, cutting through several cables in the process,” he explained.

“These live wires were left exposed for months and my business without power.”

Despite contacting the metro on numerous occasions he has received no answers.

He contacted the GCN in the hope that he would finally receive some answers.

After a query was sent to the metro the GCN received a statement from Themba Gadebe, spokesman for the metro, who claimed that the trenches had been dug so that metro workers could locate a cable fault reported in the area.

“Workers battled to find the faults hence the trenches and cables were left open till the faults had been repaired,” Gadebe said.

Power was reportedly restored to the company last Wednesday.
