Suspect fails to escape from police

Police find two unlicensed firearms during their search of two men in Wychwood.

Police recently stopped a suspicious-looking vehicle in order to search its two occupants.

When the officers approached the 36 and 40-year-old men, in Holmoak Road, in Wychwood, one of them ran away from the police.

The officers chased after the man and were able to corner him; he was brought back to the vehicle, where he and his accomplice were searched.

During the search, officers found two 9mm firearms, 14 rounds of live ammunition, a pair of bolt cutters and Limpopo registration plates.

The men were asked to produce a licence for the firearms and, when they couldn’t, they were arrested and charged with the possession of unlicensed firearms.

They were taken to the Primrose Police Station, pending their appearance in the Germiston Magistrates Court.
