Resident shocked at service

Klopper Park resident is unhappy about the service he received from the metro.

Denton Barnes, from Klopper Park, recently contacted the GCN to express his concerns.

“On numerous occasions I have reported, to the metro, that the street light located outside my house is faulty,” said Barnes.

“Every time the wind blows the wires spark and the power trips.

“I then called the metro again, using my previous reference number to report that the cap on the same street light is hanging loose.

“I thought they would make one trip and repair it completely.”

Barnes said although the municipal workers came out to attend to the light, he was not happy.

“Two workers came, a male and female,” he explained.

“While the man went up to fix the light, I was surprised to see the woman sitting in the van, reading a newspaper.

“The man finally came down and when I asked him to clip the cap back on he told me it was not their problem and that I have to report it separately, as he was attending only to the wires.

“I tried asking what the problem was, but they were very rude to me, got into the van and left.”

The GCN received feedback regarding Barnes’s query.

“The metro attended to this matter,” said metro spokesman Themba Gadebe.

“Loose wires were found and repaired; it was confirmed that there is a tree that is touching the line, hence the sparks.

“The resident was requested to cut the tree.”

Barnes confirmed that other municipal workers came to repair the cap.

“They did return to clip back the cap, but I must say I find the service shocking, something has to be done,” he said.
