Children spend time with the elderly

The Grade Ten students of Germiston High School have been fund-raising all year to host an amazing party for the elderly of Germiston.

The hard work of the Grade Ten students of Germiston High School paid off, last Tuesday, when they were able to host their annual party for the elderly.

The school has asked the Grade Tens of each year to raise funds and host the party for the past decade.

This year the group catered for about 500 people and visited the Avril Elizabeth Home, SAVF Kinross Herberg and SAVF Die Anker in Germiston and Siphutando in Katlehong.

The school donated a hamper to each of the charity organisations, as well as goodie bags, filled with sweet treats and personal items, for each of the residents.

The pupils had the chance to interact with the people from each organisation, an experience that teaches them valuable life lessons they might not normally have the opportunity to learn.
