An accident which left a young girl dead and allegedly involved an actress from a local soap opera occurred on Friday at about 2pm.
The accident took place on the R554 and N3 southbound on-ramp near Roodekop.
An Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Services (DEMS) rescue team from the Wadeville Fire Station responded swiftly to the scene.
William Ntladi, media liaison officer for DEMS said, “The female pedestrian was knocked down by the driver of a sedan and was declared dead on scene.
“There were no other injuries in the accident and the matter was handed over to the SAPS for investigation.
“At the time of the incident the driver of the vehicle, as well as the pedestrian were not identified.”
Lieut-Col Lungelo Dlamini, from the Gauteng SAPS told the GCN that a case of culpable homicide had been opened at the Alberton Police Station for investigation.
“No arrests have been made as yet.”
