Bringing some colour to the children

Germiston Child Welfare now boasts a beautiful mural designed for the children.

When children visit the Germiston Child Welfare offices they will be greeted by a brightly coloured mural.

The mural was painted by staff from Old Mutual recently as part of the company’s corporate social investment (CSI) “Care and Share” campaign and aims at making the area more child friendly.

The visit was organised by Nicole Heiman from Ceep as part of the non-profit organisation’s Hospital Painting Project.

The organisation arranges teambuilding events for people and companies who want to give back to the community.

Old Mutual sponsored all the materials for the Child Welfare project and staff members enjoyed brightening up the area.

Elmarie Brooks, who coordinates all the CSI projects at Old Mutual, said that so far this year the company has done 236 projects across all South Africa’s nine provinces.

“Employees or organisations themselves can nominate a particular project for us to get involved in,” Brooks said.

“The volunteers then get to choose which project they would like to support and go out and get involved.”
