Victim recognises hijacker

Woman hijacked in Malvern East on her way to the bank.

A woman was recently hijacked in Malvern East.

The woman was on her way to the bank, at about 9.45am, and had stopped at a stop street when a white bakkie suddenly stopped behind her.

A man got out of the vehicle and walked towards her car.

“He knocked on her window with a firearm and ordered her out of the vehicle,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications office for the Primrose police.

She noticed three other men in the bakkie, one of whom she recognised as a regular customer at her business.

The suspects made off with the vehicle.

Detectives from the Primrose Police Station were able to trace one of the men, aged 28, to Jules Street, where he was arrested.

Station commander Col Mduduzi Khuzwayo commended the detectives on their swift arrest.

A manhunt has been launched to find the remaining three suspects.

The accused will appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court soon.
