Man arrested for possession of drugs for second time

During a cluster stations operation in Primrose a Ugandan herbalist was arrested for the possession of drugs.

During a recent cluster stations operation in Primrose, members of Hillbrow Crime Intelligence Unit arrested a 42-year-old Ugandan herbalist.

The man was arrested for dealing in drugs and the possession of suspected stolen property.

“The arrest was made two months after he was arrested on a similar charge,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“The officers received a tip-off from an informer that the herbalist was dealing in drugs in Rietfontein Road.”

Police went to the address given and watched the suspect.

They saw him leave his business and return four hours later with a laptop bag.

“They approached the accused and asked to search him,” said Maome.

During the search 13 plastic bags, believed to contain drugs, were found in his possession, as well as a laptop.

“He could not produce proof of purchase for the laptop nor explain from where he had got it,” said Maome.

The suspect was arrested and detained at Primrose Police Station pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrates Court.
