Tedstoneville resident raises her concerns

A Tedstoneville resident is concerned about the installation of prepaid electricity meters in the area.

A concerned Tedstoneville resident, Alette Fourie, contacted the GCN on November 18.

Fourie told the GCN that she heard from her neighbour that the metro is installing prepaid electricity meters in the community.

“I was surprised when I got the news from my neighbour, and apparently these meters will be installed in the whole of Tedstoneville,” she said.

“My concern is that I feel we were not properly made aware of this initiative, as I believe my neighbour and I are not the only people who are in the dark about this whole matter.

“I haven’t read anything in the newspapers, received no letter from the metro, or anything of that nature.”

The GCN contacted the metro to confirm the installations.

“The councillor held a meeting with the community of Tedstoneville and all was explained to those present,” said the metro’s spokesman, Themba Gadebe.

“The councillor appointed the community liaison officer and local helpers.

“All pole boxes are installed and the meters will follow; the project is expected to be completed at the end of November.”
