One killed in Kraft Road accident

Woman dies after a fatal crash on Kraft Road.

A 65-year-old woman was killed in an accident on Kraft Road, on Saturday morning.

EMPD officers were on scene where two cars had collided.

The EMPD’s media liaison officer, Kobeli Mokheseng, confirmed that only two vehicles were involved.

“The accident occurred near the N12, where a maroon VW Golf and a green Opel Corsa collided,” he said.

“The VW had four male occupants and a 35-year old male driver.

“The driver, who received medical treatment on site, was arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol.

“One of the passengers was transported to the Tambo Memorial Hospital for medical treatment, due to slight injuries he sustained while the other two were unharmed.

“The Opel had two occupants, a 64-year old male driver and the female passenger.

“The driver was also taken to the Tambo Memorial Hospital for medical treatment, due to slight injuries he sustained while the woman was declared dead on the scene by medical experts.

“It is not clear at this stage what actually caused the accident and our Accident Reconstruction Unit (ARU) is investigating.

“A case of culpable homicide has been registered at the Primrose Police Station and the driver of the VW Golf will appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court soon.”
