Six drivers caught speeding by EMPD

EMPD cracks down on speeding drivers.

EMPD officers recently nabbed six speeding drivers.

The arrests took place between 5am and 11am on N17 highway, near the Heidelberg bridge, in the Elsburg area which is a 120km/h zone.

The arrested drivers were charged with exceeding the speed limit, at the Elsburg Police Station.

They were all subsequently released on bail of R1 500 each and are expected appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court soon.

Two brothers on motorcycles, a Honda and a BMW, were arrested when clocked at 168 and 172km/h respectively.

One claimed that he was not paying attention and the other said he was trying to catch up with other riders.

The rest were caught doing speeds of between 161 and 169km/h, giving reasons of rushing to church, late for a funeral or no reason at all for breaking the law.
