Wiandri clinches three titles

Wiandri van Vuuren (16) is ready to host six charity events in six months.

The winners of the Lady Gracious SA 2015 competition were announced at a glamorous gala dinner, at Summer Place in Boksburg, recently.

The finalists dazzled in dresses sponsored by Denise Lloyd and Linda Broodruk from Exclusive Designs.

Wiandri van Vuuren (16) described the evening in one word: “Wow.”

“Everything was amazing, from the decorations to the food, we all felt like royalty,” she explained.

Though Germiston’s Wiandri didn’t walk away with the grand prize, she did win Miss Personality, Miss Style and Miss Photogenic.

Wiandri van Vuuren shows off her three title sashes.

“I was very nervous at the beginning of the evening and was so surprised when I was called up for the three titles,” she said.

“She was voted the winner of Miss Personality by the other finalists, the Lady Gracious SA team, as well as the judges,” explained Lady Gracious SA organiser Suret Ströh.

“Miss Style was decided by the judges and Miss Photogenic by the event’s photographers.

“With each title we give the winner six months to host two events to raise funds for a charity of their choice.”

This means that Wiandri will have to host six events from January to June next year.

“We, at Lady Gracious, will be on hand to help make sure the charity is real and that they need the funds,” Suret said.

“We will also set-up a Facebook page for Wiandri, where people can follow her journey, donate and get involved.”

Though Wiandri already has a lot of ideas, she is still researching charities and causes.

If you have/know a charity or individual in need email your details to suret@lady-gracious.co.za.

In addition to the six charity events she will be hosting, Wiandri is also assisting Lady Gracious to fill 200 “Boxes of Joy”.

These boxes (for R70) will be filled with sweet treats and donated to underprivileged children on December 5.

When asked what she’s looking forward to as a Lady Gracious representative, Wiandri said: “The joy of helping people.”

The Lady Gracious team also stood up against women and children abuse at the Sisters with Blisters protest walk on Sunday.

The march marks the launch of the annual 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign.
