Sack races, tug-o’-war and lots more fun “boere sports” were on offer at the Girl and Guy’s Dream Come True’s Boere Sports Day, held at Mr Porra, in Refinery Road, last Sunday.
The day aimed to raise much-needed funds for two deserving charities, namely Epworth Children’s Village and Girl and Guy’s Dream Come True.
Three teams, made up of 10 and 20 people, took part in the activities.
The teams comprised representatives of Survivors of Woman Abuse, Brothers and Sisters for Life, Virgin Active and Girl and Guy’s Dream Come True.
The organisers thanked Mr Porra for allowing them to use the premises free of charge and for supplying the food for the day.
In addition, Mr Porra donated 10 per cent of the day’s bar bill to the two charities.
The event was not just about the sport, there were lots of stalls, face-painting, hair-spraying, a dancing display and car show for guests to enjoy.
The day was a huge success with everyone involved, young and old, finding something in which to get involved.
