Second man arrested for business robbery

Police track down additional suspect in Malvern East robbery.

The Primrose police arrested a 24-year-old man, on September 30, for a business robbery that took place in Malvern East, in August.

“When the case was opened, the complainant alleged that three armed men entered the shop he was working in and demanded cash and six cartons of cigarettes (to the total value of R2 500),” explained the communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.

One of the three men was arrested shortly after the robbery.

“The accused escaped the Primrose Police Station’s holding cells by drilling through the wall in the cell.

“He was rearrested within 48-hours,” Maome said.

The latest suspect was arrested after detectives followed several leads.

He will appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court soon.

Police continue to search for the third man allegedly involved in the robbery.
