The fuel price adjustment for October takes effect

Motorists expected to feel the pinch.

From midnight today (Wednesday) the Energy Department has dropped the price of 93 octane petrol by two cents a litre, while 95 has gone up by five cents.

In addition diesel has increased between 51 and 53 cents a litre, dependant on grade, while illuminating paraffin increased by 67 cents.

LP gas has also gone up by 11 cents per kilogram.

Despite the oil price remaining at around $47 a barrel, the Energy Department has stated that the weak Rand is responsible cancelling out any significant gains made by oil price changes.

The rand has been trading at around R14 to the dollar, as a number of international factors continue to put pressure on the local currency.
