Update: Man arrested for Sunnyrock complex shooting

Three shot at Sunnyrock complex.

Capt Tsekiso Mofokeng, Gauteng Provincial Police’s communications officer, confirmed that police have arrested a 39-year-old man following a shooting, at a complex in Germiston on Sunday, that left three people seriously injured.

It is claimed that the man opened fire on a 32-year-old woman, her 12-year-old daughter and a man at the Monte Vista complex in Libra Road, Sunnyrock Extention Four.

“A man known to the owner of the house fired several shots through an open window of the house,” Mofokeng said.

“He then forced open the door to gain entry into the house and fired more shots into the people inside the house.”

The accused attempted to flee the scene but was arrested by security guards, police and residents of the complex.

“A firearm, licensed to the accused, and an empty magazine were seized during the arrest,” Capt Mofokeng said.

The accused will be charged with three counts of attempted murder, as well as, domestic violence.

“There is a possibility of further charges being added when he appears in the Germiston Regional Court,” added Mofokeng.

The man will appeared in court on tomorrow (Tuesday).
