DJs to share their skills

Make your mark on the local DJing scene.

The ground-breaking Ekurhuleni Spring Fiesta 2015 will take place on Saturday, October 3, at Wild Waters Complex.

In addition to the amazing line-up of artists, the metro has created a four-days legacy programme.

The programme will be held from October 6 to 9 and will see both established local and international disc jockeys (DJs), sharing their skills and experiences with aspiring local DJs.

Music professionals such as international heavyweight, Osunlade, and local industry game changers, DJ Euphonik, DJ Mo Flava, DJ Naves, Reason and the Pink revolution movement headed by DJ Zintle and Nomdeni Mdakhi will form part of the team that will share their insights, experiences and content with the up-and-coming DJs.

It is hoped their time with these professionals will equip the next music industry leaders with the tools they need to start and/or improve their musical portfolio.

Lessons on the different functions of radio, professional, club and mobile DJs will also be part of the four-day workshops.

“The workshops are a great platform to ensure that the Ekurhuleni Spring Fiesta legacy lives on.

“The fiesta may come and go but the technical skill of music production will live on,” said metro spokesman Themba Gadebe.

Six lucky participants stand the chance to win bursaries to further their studies in music production and deejaying.

“Four of these bursaries are to study digital music composition and production at Boston City Campus, to the value of R26 500, with the remaining two bursaries, valued at R3 500 each, will be awarded to two women to further their studies at the Fuse Academy for Girls,” explained Gadebe.

Workshops include:

  • Mentoring on October 6 at the Springs Theatre.
  •  Music production on October 7 at the Springs Theatre.
  •  Disc jockeying workshop on October 8 at the Springs Theatre.
  •  Entertainment and the female brand on October 9 at the Germiston City Hall.
