Germiston SAPS make huge drug bust.

The Germiston SAPS made a huge drug bust, on Friday afternoon.

At about 1.40pm, officers were conducting a stop-and-search operation at the intersection of Linton Jones and Railway streets when they stopped a red VW Golf, with three occupants.

The red VW Golf which the suspects were driving. It is believed that the car was stolen.

“Upon searching the vehicle, the police discovered a 20 litre bucket containing tablets and powder suspected to be drugs in white transparent bags,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Germiston Cluster SAPS.

“After being questioned, the suspects confirmed that indeed they were drugs.”

The police confiscated 8.76kg of powder packed in eleven 2kg packets and the tablets.

“Each packet is worth about R25 000 and each tablet is worth about R250 on the streets,” Maome said.

Upon checking the vehicle, the officers suspected that it had been stolen, because the VIN number had been changed.

Three suspects, aged between 24 and 28 years old, were arrested and detained at the Germiston Police Station.

They are due to appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court soon.
