The commander of the Primrose Police Station, Col Mduduzi Khuzwayo, congratulated Det-Sgt Kevin Claase on securing a conviction in a murder case, in 2014.
Claase was the investigating officer.
Luvuyo Ntuzo (32) was charged and recently convicted of the Meyer Street murder.
He was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, and declared unfit to possess a firearm.
