Red Cross celebrates World First Aid Day

Elderly invited to sign up for first aid course at the Red Cross.

The Germiston branch of the South African Red Cross Society is celebrating World First Aid Day.

In line with this year’s theme, “First aid and ageing population”, the society will present a basic first aid course to community members who are over the age of 60.

The event takes place on September 16, from 10am to 2pm, at the Red Cross offices, at 27 Driehoek Road, Germiston.

There will be no charge for this, but, please confirm attendance by September 14, for catering purposes.

Contact Barbara Jensen or Zodwa Nkhambule on 011 873-9009 or 082 922 8896, to reserve your place.

The aim of the day is to build a positive image of ageing and to recognise older people as an important resource for society.

The society also wants to encourage older people to become self-empowered and thus help to strengthen their resilience and capacity to be autonomous, while promoting their inclusion in society.
