Dancers from across the country are set to compete in the 30th edition of Supreme Dancer of the Year.
Presented by Lambton’s Diana Moore Dance World, the competition draws the top talent in the dancing world.
The event takes place on September 12 and 13 at the Big Top Arena at Carnival City.
Dancing kicks off at 10am on September 12 with hip hop, freestyle, slowdance, rock ‘n roll and the Champion of Champion competitions for hip hop and freestyle.
On September 13, dancing starts at 9.30am and you can witness ballroom and Latin American, as well as the medal sections – Single’s; Rising Star and Championship.
Diana Moore Dance World has a number of top students participating in the event so come along and support Germiston’s young talent.
One of the dancers is Andrijke van Tonder (9).
She joined Diana Moore Dance World in January, last year and started doing competitions this year.
The talented youngster came fourth in her age group (eight to nine) at the Battle of the Giants held at Sun City.
She dances as an intermediate and has been first six times at various competitions.
Andrijke is very excited and is training hard for Supreme Dancer of The Year.
She is participating in freestyle (solo and slowdance).
Another competitor freestyle and ballet starlet Scarlett Schutte (7) can’t wait to compete in the prestigious event.
She is new to the competition scene, having only joined the studio in January, this year, after relocating to Gauteng from the North West.
During the year she has attained a number of first places at competitions for freestyle slowdance and solo in her age category (seven and under), as well as a distinction in her Grade One Cecchetti Ballet examinations.
Germiston residents can also look forward to watching Laylon Saul (10) in action.
This championship level dancer at Diana Moore Dance World can’t wait to take on the competition at this year’s event.
In her first year of dancing she moved from beginner to championship level.
This is a not to be missed competition and tickets are available at the door.
