Hilda celebrates her 90th birthday

Hilda reaches a milestone birthday.

Well known Germistonian Hilda Jones turned 90 on August 27.

A resident of Germiston for most of her life, she taught at St Catherine’s School and St Dominic’s Convent, as well as Assumption Convent for many years.

She also worked in child and social welfare in Germiston and Boksburg and in later years she was head of social welfare at Nazareth House in Johannesburg.

Hilda was also the organist at St Augustine’s Catholic Church in Germiston.

Now retired, she lives at Nazareth House.

Her two daughters, well known sportswoman Fran Hilton-Smith and Lynda Landman also reside in Germiston.
