Memories and nostalgia were the order of the day at the 50th reunion of Hoërskool Vryburger High School, last Saturday.
“It was a wonderful day indeed and we couldn’t have done it without the support of the principal, Jannie Jordaan, and Reinette Pretorius who, among other things, made it possible to have the school facilities put at our disposal,” said Sarie Taljaard.
“Initially we couldn’t all recognise each other, but five minutes later we were young again and back in 1965.
“It is a day that will always be cherished in our hearts.
“Unfortunately, some of our former school mates have died and we, therefore, couldn’t find everyone.
Taljaard also said some of her former alumni came from as far afield as Durban and George to enjoy the day together.
“It was a wonderful and successful event and thank you to the Heavenly Father that after so many years we were able to get together and relive our youth,” she said.
