Muggers target school children

Children must be alert while walking in the street.

Children walking home from school must be alert and aware of their surroundings at all times.

This warning comes from the Primrose CPF.

“Children must be careful, especially on Rietfontein Road, as muggers are attacking them and stealing cellphones and bicycles,” said Wendy Morgan, chairman of the CPF.

“Rather walk along Beaconsfield Avenue and walk in groups.

“Do not walk with your cellphone in your hand or with your earphones on.”

The CPF is also warning residents to be extra careful when entering or leaving their properties.

“Do not park in the driveway while waiting for the gate to open, get someone to meet you at the gate if possible.

“Warn visitors to be alert and not to park their vehicles in the road, as car theft is rife in the area,” said Morgan.

There are volunteer patrollers in Primrose Sectors Two and Three, who are doing their best to help to keep the area safe.

However, more are needed in the fight against crime.

To join the CPF patrollers call Dennis Endres on 082 443 1915, and for Sector Three call Quinton Birch on 082 788 1505.

The Primrose CPF is currently in need of a secretary to take minutes at meetings and volunteers can contact Morgan on 072 963 9675 if they are interested in taking up the position.

Morgan added that the Primrose CPF is also calling on local businesses to get involved in the Business Against Crime Forum.

To be a part of this group, which will be used for the sharing of information and issues, send an email to PrimroseSCF2@gmail.com, or to max@telkomsa.net.
