The power system remains stable heading into the weekend.
Eskom has been able to continue maintenance without load shedding for five consecutive days.
This is in line with the company’s position to only resort to rotational load shedding in order to protect the power system and also to create space for critical maintenance.
The risk remains high during the evening peak period when the demand for electricity increases.
However, Eskom will inform customers should the possibility of load shedding intensify.
“Eskom’s aim is to meet the country’s electricity needs and maintain its power generating units with minimal or no load shedding,” said the company in a statement released this morning.
Eskom will provide regular updates on the status of the power system through all the media platforms.
