Pedestrian rushed to hospital after being knocked over.

A man is in a critical condition following a pedestrian accident on Joubert Street in Germiston South, on Thursday morning.

“Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found a man, believed to be in his twenties, lying on the roadway after he was knocked over by a motor vehicle,” said Santi Steinmann, media liaison officer for Netcare 911.

“Upon assessment, paramedics found that the man had sustained multiple injuries and he was in a critical condition.”

The injured man was treated on the scene, placed on a trauma board and rushed to hospital for the urgent medical treatment he required, under the care of an advanced life support paramedic.

“Exact details surrounding the cause of the pedestrian accident and preceding events are unclear and will remain the subject of a police investigation,” said Steinmann.

“The driver of the motor vehicle was not injured during the accident.”
