Yvonne Chaka Chaka shows her support for persons with disabilities

Big celebrities support Casual Day.

South African singer and global icon Yvonne Chaka Chaka recently became one of several celebrities to endorse Casual Day, South Africa’s foremost fund-raiser for persons with disabilities.

“Chaka Chaka sang a duet with Sibusiso Smith, a young person with a disability, who decided to roll up onto the stage and join the famous singer at a recent concert, at Constitutional Hill, in Johannesburg,” said Andrea Vinassa, media liaison for Casual Day.

“Songwriter and humanitarian Chaka Chaka took it in her stride and generously shared the limelight with her admirer, who belted out the tune and thoroughly enjoyed himself on stage.

“Chaka Chaka is a Unicef Goodwill Ambassador for East and Southern Africa, and she is encouraging South Africans to Spring into Action for persons with disabilities this year.”

Vinassa also said people can show their support for Casual Day as a group.

“Get your stickers from the Casual Day head-office, but even better, get them from a local organisation for persons with disabilities,” she explained.

“In this way, you can support the people in your community.

“Get your stickers now from any one of 500 participating organisations for persons with disabilities.

“Just ask around your neighbourhood for schools and organisations that provide services to persons with disabilities.

“Most of the government departments, such as the Department of Force, have stickers available.

“You can choose the sub-sector that you would like to support and get your sticker from them, they all have local branches.

“Sponsored by the Edcon Group, Casual Day is the flagship project of the National Council for Persons with Physical Disabilities in South Africa.
