Woman is arrested for assault

Attacker allegedly accuses victim of spreading rumours before attack.

A Makause informal settlement woman was taken by surprise when she was attacked in her home, recently.

The woman alleged that her attacker called her shortly before arriving at her home.

“It is reported that the attacker accused the victim of spreading rumours about her,” said communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.

The victim was assaulted with a beer bottle, and sustained injuries to her left hand and her right knee.

Using the description given by the victim, officers were able to track down the 21-year-old woman.

She was arrested and taken to the Primrose Police Station.

She will appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court soon, on charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
