Two hot topics of conversation on the Germiston City News Facebook page for the week, July 10 to 17, were:

Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) teams rushed to the Germiston Train Station Tuesday evening to fight a train fire. Eric Maloka, media liaison for DEMS, told the GCN the fire was started by disgruntled commuters as there was a delay in the train service between Germiston and Kseseni.

You said:

  • Bekifa Sambo, “But to be honest PRASA is failing us. I am using a train when I go to work, the trains are always late and full.”
  • Kerrin Few, “That’s right, well done, now you don’t have a train to catch. How stupid can you be, just because there is a delay what reason does that give you to destroy what isn’t yours?”
  • Adele Putter, “Very clever, from late to nothing.”

2. How to claim for damages from the municipality: https://on.fb.me/1HyMcC4

Accidents happen and claiming for those misfortunes can be tedious if you are not aware of the proper processes to be followed. What many metro residents may not know is that they can lodge a claim against the metro for any losses or damages that are the result of wrongdoing on the part of the municipality.

You said:

  • Debbie Dodd, “How to claim? Will I still be alive when they pay out I wonder?”
  • Jolandie Koekemoer, “The metro will always have an excuse.”
  • Marlene Tucker, “Then try prove they were negligent. Your word against theirs, I doubt anyone will get anywhere.”
