Repair work to restore power to parts of Germiston continues

Power has once again been affected in parts of Germiston.

Metro technicians are currently working to restore the electricity supply to parts of Germiston which have been without power since the early hours of this morning.

After working continuously for two days, technicians managed to restore power to areas supplied by the Germiston South Extension Eight substation yesterday.

Unfortunately, they lost a feeder cable this morning, resulting in another outage in Tedstoneville, Dukathole, Swaswap and parts of the Germiston South Industrial area.

“Initially, there was a cable fault at the substation which caused an outage on Thursday night.

“It was repaired and after technicians switched on Friday night, a panel exploded and caused a fire at the facility,” said Ekurhuleni spokesman Themba Gadebe.

Work is currently underway to restore power to the areas as soon as possible.

The municipality apologises for any inconveniences caused.
