Repair works underway to restore power to part of Germiston

High voltage equipment failure blamed for power outage.

The metro is implementing measures to minimise the effects of the current power supply interruption affecting parts of Germiston.

The interruption is due to the high voltage equipment failure that resulted in the explosion and burning of the Germiston South Extension Eight substation last night.

The metro’s technicians continue to work tirelessly implementing repairs that started from the early hours of the morning in an attempt to make temporary power supply restorations.

The affected areas are:

“Residents and businesses are assured that the technicians will continue to work around the clock until power is fully restored to all areas.

“The metro wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused by the outage and urges residents and businesses to stay clear of the site while repair works are underway,” said Themba Gadebe, spokesman for the metro.
