Children entertained during Primrose police roadshow
Roadshow hits Primrose’s informal settlements.
Primrose police, members of the Primrose Crime Prevention Youth Desk and former Bafana Bafana coach Clive Barker ended their recent National Child Protection Week campaign with a roadshow that visited the Makause, Delport and Marathon informal settlements.
National Child Protection Week (CPW) is commemorated in South Africa annually to raise awareness of the rights of children as articulated in the Children’s Act of 2005.
This year’s theme was “Working Together to Protect Children”.
Primrose police and the Primrose Crime Prevention Youth Desk (PCPYD) recently ended their child protection campaign in style with a roadshow that visited the Makause, Delport and Marathon informal settlements.
During the roadshow officers and PCPYD members shared safety tips with the children of the informal settlements.
“The children were entertained and given sweets, toys, drawing books and chips,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for Primrose police.
“Former Bafana Bafana coach Clive Barker also joined the roadshow to surprise the children.
“Barker also took the opportunity to scout for young soccer talent.”
Chubby Chums, the Avril Elizabeth Home and Cartoon Candy are thanked for sponsoring the roadshow.
“The kids really enjoyed every moment they spent with us,” said Moame.
“A big thank you to our PCPYD members who worked tirelessly for the success of this day.”
