Child Welfare needs your help on Mandela Day

Help a child this Mandela Day.

With the approach of Mandela Day, this Saturday, why not make a difference in the life of a child?

Germiston Child Welfare would appreciate any sort of help you can offer.

“We understand not everyone can donate exorbitant amounts of money, so we welcome any sort of donation whether it is your time, food parcels or even toys,” said Barbara Bouwer, director of Germiston Child Welfare.

“In the spirit of 67 minutes, one may donate R67, this money will go towards paying an unemployed member of the community to do an odd job at Germiston Child Welfare for Mandela Day.

“Not only will you be contributing to a great cause, but someone other than our charity will benefit.

“Sixty-seven non-perishable foods may be donated too, food such as soups, canned foods etc.”

For those who would like to volunteer their time rather, herewith a list of what the society needs help with:

  • Carport nets need to be repaired.
  • Outside basin and pipes need to be replaced and repaired.
  • Garden work needs to be done.

Items that child welfare needs if you wish to donate items:

  • Toiletry dignity packs for both girls and boys which includes items such as toothpaste, washing soap, facecloth, toothbrush, deodorant and shampoo.
  • Groceries: Rice, maize meal, oats, tinned food, cooking oil, toilet paper, sugar etc.
  • General donations to run the charity, for example stationery and cleaning materials.
  • Non-perishable food items.

“Donations can also be made into the charity’s bank account, please use your email address as the reference number so I know whom to thank,” said Bouwer.
