The State is beginning its prosecution of Radovan Krejcir for murder and conspiracy to commit murder two suspects short as one was banned from South Africa after leaving the country legally and the other has yet to be arrested.

One suspect has yet to be named while the other is Denis Krejcir, Radovan’s son.

It was Denis who was on holiday overseas with his partner Marlene Nezar and his mother Katerina Krejcirova in December last year when the Department of Home Affairs declared him a prohibited person apparently because his permanent residence permit was fraudulent.

Denis launched a High Court action which failed and now the police have to somehow convince him to return to South Africa to face murder and conspiracy to commit murder charges.

Prosecutor Lawrence Gcaba reportedly said the State was investigating other options because it did not want to go the “extradition route”. This is understandable because according to the Department of Justice website, South Africa has no extradition treaty with the Czech Republic, homeland of the Krejcir family.

So for the time being, at least it’s Krejcir’s bagman Mike Grigorov, Krejcir himself, Nkanyiso Mafunda, Siboniso Mia and Mfaniseni Siphiwe Memela who face charges of killing Sam Issa in Bedfordview late 2013.

“Now that there is a warrant for his arrest, he would be welcome back. I hope that he will fulfil his wish to come back to South Africa and face the music with his father,” said O’Sullivan.

O’Sullivan said Mafinda had been planning together with Krejcir and his co-accused to murder four witnesses in the Sam Issa murder as well Colonel Ximba and O’Sullivan himself.

“This is now the sixth attempt Krejcir has made to have me murdered. So as you can imagine I’m not a very happy chappy but I’m happy the State is on top of it,” O’Sullivan said.

The matter was postponed to September.

The case echoes that of last year when Solomon Miya (accused 1), Zoduma Biyela (accused 3), Owen Serero (accused 4), ex-crime intelligence Sergeant Nandi Nkosi (accused 5), Krejcir (accused 6), Nkanyiso Mafunda (accused 7), Siphiwe Memela (accused 8 – believed to be Krejcir’s trigger-man) and Borislov “Mad Mike” Grigorov (accused 9 – apparently Krejcir’s bagman), were arrested on charges of conspiracy to commit the murder of crime intelligence’s Colonel Nkosana “Killer” Ximba and forensic consultant Paul O’Sullivan, as well as unlawful possession of arms and ammunition.

“Krejcir should realise that the wheels of justice are still turning in this country and he is going to eventually pay for his crimes,” said O’Sullivan.

“Grigorov was added as an accomplice to Issa’s murder is because he was the one who arranged the motor vehicle used to do the murder and he set it up with blue lights to make it look like a police vehicle,” O’Sullivan noted.
