Petrol price hike confirmed

Petrol will cost 44 cents more per litre from Wednesday.

The Energy Department has announced another fuel hike to take effect from Wednesday (July 1).

Since the beginning of the year motorists have seen an increase of more than R4,70 for all grades of petrol.

From Wednesday 93 octane petrol will increase by 44 cents a litre while 95 octane goes up by 41 cents.

Both grades of diesel will increase by four cents a litre, with Liquefied petroleum gas going up by 56 cents.

It is reported that the reason behind the Energy Department’s decision to increase the petrol price has been driven by the weakening of the Rand against the US Dollar.
