SPCA kennels are undergoing a revamp

Help build kennels for SPCA animals.

The team at Germiston SPCA is moving full steam ahead with improvements to all the dog kennels, to make them more spacious and comfortable for the animals in the society’s care.

The previous small dog kennels are almost complete, and work has now begun on doubling-and-tripling the previous large dog kennels into suitable living quarters for large dogs.

When this project is complete, the dogs will be able to move around comfortably, and will also be able to share their temporary stay with other four-legged companions, making it more fun for them.

The walls have been removed and the team is now flattening the area where the walls were previously.

The next step is leveling the floors, and laying concrete slabs for hygiene and easy cleaning.

Ideally the SPCA would also like to plaster the walls and repair the leaking roofs.

“This is a massively expensive task, for which we have no budget, and we are asking our supporting community to please give a donation towards the future comfort of our homeless animals,” said Michelle Falgate, chairman of the Germiston SPCA.

“Every gift, no matter how small, will enable us to get closer to the completion of these kennels and the upgrade of the remaining kennels.”
