New business council to pave the way to revitalising manufacturing

Looking ahead at the revitalisation of manufacturing.

As a precursor to the upcoming two-day Manufacturing Indaba Conference and Exhibition the metro recently revealed its plan to establish the Ekurhuleni Business Council (EBC) during the Manufacturing Round Table held at Emperors Palace.

Industry leaders were invited to deliberate on how they, through the EBC, will collectively work towards the revitalisation of the manufacturing sector in Ekurhuleni.

In his keynote address, the executive mayor of Ekurhuleni, Clr Mondli Gungubele, alluded to the fact that the EBC will provide avenues for partnerships between the public and private sectors to advance the municipality’s development and job creation goals.

“It is this very council that the metro’s senior management will utilise to adequately engage with the manufacturing fraternity on key issues of service delivery and other municipal business.

“This round table is an opportunity to reorganise the industry in order to maximise the potential that already exists in Ekurhuleni,” said Gungubele.

The EBC is a structure that will include representatives from both the municipality and business.

It will be guided by a few rules, namely:

In its continued pursuit to revitalise manufacturing in Ekurhuleni, the metro will be hosting the Manufacturing Indaba Conference and Exhibition where deliberations regarding enhancing manufacturing competitiveness in Gauteng will take place.

The indaba is set to take place on June 29 and 30, from 8am to 5pm, at Emperors Palace.
