More load shedding on the cards

Eskom has warned consumers to brace themselves for more load shedding this week.

Eskom has warned the public to brace themselves for more load shedding this week as it works to fix technical problems at some of its generating units.

Peak periods remain the highest risk times for load shedding.

Load shedding escalated to stage three for a brief time on Saturday evening.

Eskom continues with scheduled maintenance which has further tightened its generation capacity.

Spokesman Khulu Phasiwe said, “For the rest of the week we’re likely to see a repeat of this until we have one unit of Medupi and one unit of Kusile Power Station up, unfortunately we will continue to have this vulnerability in the power systems.”

In other news:

The National Energy Regulator (NERSA) will hold public hearings on Eskom’s selective re-opener application for the third Multi-Year Price Determination on June 23 and 24 at the Nasrec Expo Centre.
