Drug dealers nabbed in internet café raid

Germiston EMPD Crime Prevention officers nabbed three man and confiscated drugs and cash in a raid.

Members of the Germiston EMPD Crime Prevention Unit swooped on an alleged drug den in Edenvale, last Monday.

Working on a tip-off from a reliable source, the officers arrested three alleged drug dealers who were found selling the drug Kat at an internet café.

The arrests took place at 2pm and Kat worth approximately R2 000 was confiscated from the trio.

The internet café is situated on van Riebeeck Street in the Edenvale CBD.

Two of the suspects, aged 31 and 36, are Nigerian nationals and the third suspect is a 23-year-old South African.

Over and above the drugs confiscated, an amount of R2 400, suspected to be the proceeds from the illegal sales of drugs, was also seized.

Charges of possession and dealing in illicit substances were laid against the trio at the Edenvale Police Station.

The suspects were expected to appear in the Edenvale Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
