Stage two load shedding will be implemented from 4pm to 10pm

Cold weather and faulty units to blame for load shedding.

Eskom has announced that stage two load shedding will be implemented from 4pm to 10pm.

This comes after stage one was implemented at 9.3oam today.

An increase in electricity demand, due to the cold front that is currently sweeping through the country, and a shortage of generation capacity resulting from technical faults at some of Eskom’s units is blamed for today’s load shedding.

Spokesman for Eskom Khulu Phasiwe said that the high demand on the system is evident in many parts of the country.

“Our appeal to the public, if possible at all, is to delay the usage of heaters.

“If they really have to use them when the temperatures are low, then we’re asking that they lower the usage of geysers and swimming pools pumps so that we can reduce pressure on the power system.”
